Bio
Tyler Maxey
B. Feb 8th, 1996
Tyler Maxey is a composer, arranger, and educator who uses music to explore interesting concepts and help bring stories to life. Tyler's music focuses on drawing in listeners from the very first note and immerses them in a sonic world that is vivid, diverse, and intentional. Every note, every voice, and every texture serves a purpose in crafting the ideal sound for that very moment, no matter if it's for a film score, the marching field, or the concert hall.
Tyler holds a Bachelor's in Music Entrepreneurship from Notre Dame College and a Master's in Music Composition from Cleveland State University, and was a recent participant in the Cleveland Film Composer Incubator launched just this year in an effort to cultivate promising film composers and highlight the growing film scoring scene in Cleveland, Ohio.
Tyler's body of work spans films and documentaries such as: Coventry P.E.A.C.E Park: A New Beginning, which aired on PBS Western Reserve and has an upcoming screening at the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival, The Greenprint: Revitalizing a Neighborhood, which has recently been selected to screen at She Creates Shorts Fest and Expo, and various other commercial and passion projects. Tyler is also currently scoring Last Draw, an original short film that is currently in production.
Beyond the screen, Tyler's compositional voice extends into the concert and marching arts world — writing for wind symphonies, chamber ensembles, and various marching bands across the country. His first commissioned concert work, TBD, premiered in 2023, followed by The Midnight Hour, a collaborative electronic EP released in 2025, and he continues to push his creative range by exploring, listening, studying, and experimenting in as many genres and sounds as possible. Tyler believes that great music isn't confined to one genre or experience - it's built from a lifetime of listening and learning.
When he's not composing, Tyler can be found gaming and spending time with his wife Brittney and their Mini Australian Shepherd, Cooper.
